About Me
I am a researcher in Applied Mathematics and Computer Graphics, currently working as a fixed-term researcher at IMATI - CNR (Institute of Applied Mathematics and Information Technology - National Research Council) in Genoa, Italy. My research focuses on developing mathematical methods for the analysis and processing of 3D shapes, with particular emphasis on mesh-based representations and their applications across diverse scientific domains.
Research Expertise
My work focuses on mesh-based modeling for analysis and simulation. I develop geometric tools for the analysis, generation, and processing of 2D and 3D meshes, with particular attention to polytopal meshes. These meshes are used in shape analysis algorithms, numerical simulations with the Virtual Element Method (VEM), and high-dimensional problems using Tensor-Train representations. The applications of my work range from Urban Sciences, developing semantic models for urban environments and contributing to Digital Twin construction and smart city technologies, to Geosciences, using unstructured meshes for environmental geostatistical modeling.
Current Research
My research agenda focuses on three main areas:
- Polytopal Mesh Superiority: Investigating when and how polytopal meshes can be significantly superior to standard meshes in terms of efficiency and accuracy
- Tensor-Train Methods: Expanding applications to bioinformatics and urban environmental modeling
- Urban Digital Twins: Developing comprehensive LOD2 representations with semantic building characterization for policy-making applications
